She was recognized early on as being creative and has written poetry, songs, speeches and most anything asked of her when people needed help expressing themselves. She maintains a goal of communicating in classic ways wherein her work transcends time and maintains relevance for people regardless of their background. Her plays like her approaches to life are thought provoking, socially conscious, multi-culturally inclusive and push the envelope toward greater awareness. She lives every moment in gratitude and likes to remind people of the importance of kind thought and deed and the power of love, faith and acceptance of others as well as ourselves. A graduate of Northwestern University, Andrea has been an inspiring consultant and business leader managing community organizations, her own business ventures and working in City government for over thirty years. Melissa Firlit has just been awarded Best Director, Best Dramatic Play and Best Small Ensemble from the Denver Broadway World for her production of RED with Thingamajig at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts. She has also been nominated for and won various awards for her work across the New York area, with accolades including best direction, best ensemble and best variety show. Since her award winning direction of RED, Melissa’s recent credits include: Misterman (Thingamajig), BUBBA (FringeNYC, Planet Connections, UnitedSolo Festival, Theatre Tuscaloosa),SIDD (Chicago Fringe Festival) and Bunting or Flags (New Light Theater Project). As part of her personal commitment to new work and collaborating with playwrights in process, Melissa’s recent reading credits including: Bad Husband, Wetiko and Heathens(NYC Sit-In idtheater), Oakwoods (Artful Conspirators), and The Way of Water (Mile Square Theater). Theater was a pivotal part in Melissa’s development from childhood through adulthood. Denise feels fortunate to now be one of the longest running performers in One Drop having been in the original cast. After being a teacher of “the little ones” in the New York City Public School system for 25 years, she is thrilled to have recently retired and can now focus on pursuing the art of acting more vigorously.

She has continued to be a quick study as this time for the first time she is acting in a full length production, doing quite well and enjoying every minute of it.

Ken Bolander, (Charles Oliver Stewart III), is delighted to return to this role. Ken is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. He appeared in the Saroyan one act “Hello, Out There,” for Out of the Box Theatre Company. He played Paul, the Vietnam Vet in “Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens” for Sweet and Tart Productions. Ken did a reading for a new musical, “The Really Big Pirate Show” and has performed in many Regional Theatres and Tours. His bread and butter roles have been Rooster in “Annie” and Pa in “Laura Ingalls Wilder.” Ken had the opportunity to create many roles with ArtsPower National Touring Theatre. He was lucky enough to be in Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean performing on Cruise Ships. As a day job, he is a Captain for Great Performances Catering and Catherine Louise Schubert Catering; so if you need a caterer, let him know.
